4 October2022Editor NoteAsian Women Enroute Conquering the Business WorldAsia is a dynamic continent which is known for its superpower, i.e. manpower. Although the region has been blessed with sharp minds who have been at the forefront of several innovations across fields & industries, yet the prime factor propelling Asia ahead is its human resource. Asian women have been playing a crucial role in the region's growth and development. According to McKinsey, Asian women contribute approximately 36 percent of Asia's GDP, which aligns with the global average. However the disparity between different nations is wide and rather surprising. The fact of the matter is that Asia has been sitting on a great opportunity. By involving more women in the region's workforce, Asia stands to gain an additional $4.5 trillion of GDP by 2025. That is a growth rate of 12 percent! Asian women have been breaking the shackles of gender stereotypes and patriarchal setups to join the workforce in full force. Currently women occupy almost 40 to 45 percent of entry-level positions across all Asian companies. Butthis is where the growth stops. As we move up the ladder, women's representation only dwindles. While in some countries this number drops to 25 percent, in some nations it is as measly as four percent. The need of the hour is to take proactive steps to improve women's representation in decision making roles in the corporate world. The Women Entrepreneur Magazine is committed to this mission and in doing so we bring to you inspirational stories of dynamic women leaders from across the Asian continent.
